The foundation of every technique
Kihon means “basics” or “foundation”. Every class at EmptyHands works through kihon, with techniques practised in lines, moving forward and back, so that each movement becomes precise, relaxed and powerful.
Good kihon is what makes kata and kumite work. The strength of a punch or block comes from the stance beneath it, so students return to the basics at every grade, from white belt to Sensei.
The four pillars of Karate-Dō
Every class works through all four, closing with the Dojo Kun.
